What is High Performance?

The word “performance” can have a very physical connotation to it. To perform something implies an action. High performance means doing that action at stellar level.

But real High Performance comes from honing the mental and physical capabilities you have to achieve something great, and achieve greatness consistently. High Performance is becoming a more full-person approach to wellness, and encompasses more than just our bodies.

High Performance is a unity of body, mind, and spirit toward living the most complete life you can. It fulfills all facets of a healthy life — productive work, fruitful social connection, a balanced diet, and ample relaxation time.

This newsletter aims to provide you with reminders about what High Performance really is; it’s not always black coffee, 4am runs, 12 hour workdays, or intense HIIT workouts.

To me — a health coach who’s coached hundreds of high-performers and nurtured them to further growth— High Performance is a highly individual and complex process of discovery about one’s true passions.

First, it’s about finding peace and comfort in who you are currently. Worrying too much about who you aspire to become will lead you astray. Take personality tests. Find out what makes you tick. Find time to breathe. Meditate, pray, or sit in silence. This takes time, and is the hardest part of true High Performance.

Second, it’s about channeling strength within your body. I’ve coached over 10,000 personal training sessions with clients whom I believed couldn’t have been more successful before they met me. But training their bodies has brought them to new levels of performance they never thought imaginable.

Third, it’s about finding the connection between these two things, and listening to both systems when things go awry. When either of these systems of strength and peace are disrupted, it’s wise to pause. Not for long, but just to take a beat and know that your spirit is asking for the gas pedal.

My hope is that High Performance Health can be a beacon for finding your own form of High Performance, because it doesn’t look the same for everyone. I will never sell you a one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, I’m here to guide you down your path, not the path.”

I’m very thankful you’re here to learn about yourself with me. I hope you’ll teach me some things about myself, too.
